ISAC combines communication signals with sensing objectives. For automotive systems, this can improve awareness around the vehicle, infrastructure and network edge while using radio resources more efficiently than independent sensing and connectivity stacks.
ISAC becomes more useful when connected to V2X infrastructure, roadside units and vehicle edge compute. The technical challenge is aligning latency, trust, timing and data quality so that sensing-derived context can support useful mobility services.
